OK, the hotel reservations are made and everything is set. I didn't have time to call the vendor about the shirts, but I'll speak to them first thing next week.Clayt, Do we have any idea on what shooting events we'll have? What about a trap range? Just wondering if I should plan on taking my shotgun as well. Any word on the "Official" announcement/flyer? ------------------

I've been corresponding with Clayt to get things organized with this. We need to get a general idea as to the number of people who are going. What I have so far are the following members: Clayt, MC1911, Sedstar, Rob, Tinkerin, and myself. With the possibility of Beemanbeme and Sky Kid. Anyone else? Tgully? Tim V? Speedbump? We also need an approximate head count for the Lobster dinner on Saturday.Another question is in regard to handguns. Are we going to bring them? If not, then there is no need to come up with any handgun shooting events. I have no problem bringing mine if we are going to use them. Otherwise I just assume to leave them home as it's less to pack up and bring with me. ------------------

Considering that I will have to transport them through the Union of the Socialist Republics of NJ, NY, and Massachusetts, I am going to leave my handguns at home. Nothing may happen, but I am not willing to take the risk. There is just too much to loose. ------------------ SAFE SHOOTING and HAVE A GREAT DAY!!! MC

You all, (that Ya'll for the Southerners) need to check out this website RE: Gun laws www.packing.org Peaceable journey law summary: Here's a direct link for Massachusetts http://www.packing.org/state/massachusetts/#statepeace_journ_law Connecticut http://www.packing.org/state/connecticut/#statepeace_journ_law New York (stay out of NYC, don't get off any exits there) http://www.packing.org/state/new_york/#statepeace_journ_law Here's one from the NJ State Police: http://www.njsp.org/about/fire_trans.html There was a Federal Law passed in 1986 that allows "Peaceable Journey" through all states. It basicly states if it's legal in the State you live in and it's legal in the State of destination, then you are good to go. You'll need to have a flyer or form of pre-registration form for the event. (Like the one Greg and I are working on and you'll have before you come) The firearms need to be unloaded, cased and stored in a location least likely to be reached by the passengers. Locked cases, disassembled and/or gunlocks are a good idea too. Your ammo needs to be cased and stored separate from the firearm. (AKA not in the same case as the firearm) I've been living in New England all my life and have traveled through all the NE States with firearms, going to different shoots, some even in MA w/o any hint of problems. I've taken firearms to VA when visiting friends and went shooting with them. We (gun owners) have been brow beaten (by the media) into believing we can hardly do/go anywhere with firearms. Sure there are a bunch of restrictions, check out the laws and decide for yourself.
~Clayt PS: I've already started a "Bail" fund for Rob and Sedstar! edited to add NJ

Depending on where you're coming from, what your driving (commercial or passenger vehicle tags), and the time of day, there are several routes that can be taken to avoid driving through NYC completely. For years I lived in Long Island and had no choice but to drive through NYC to get to upstate NY for hunting or just shooting with some family/friends at their clubs and never had any problems. There is a 24 hour window of "Peaceable Journey" through NYC, and a 48 hour window through the rest of NY State. Although I would suggest staying clear of any NYC boroughs just to avoid the traffic. The bottom line is it's your choice. If you need driving directions to avoid NYC, just let me know. ------------------

I'm glad to hear Sed has stayed clear of the clink. Rob, You better get a move on and let KT know that you want to go. One thing you never do is wait till the last minute to tell a new mom that you'll be going away and leaving her alone for a few days. SkyKid, whenever you're done with the bow hunter course, come on down. Saturday night we'll be having the Laaaabstahhh Feast (big piles of food) and we'll be back out at the range shooting all day Sunday too. Mike, Glad you can make it. Both you and your grandson are more than welcome. The last month work has been crazy, especially this last week were I had to cram a lot more work into the 40 hour week just to get some time for fishing this past weekend. Now that things are starting to get caught up, I'll be finalizing the flyer this week and post a link on here so it can be downloaded. On this flyer will be a space for you to enter your personal information and it will be used as a "Registration Card" to show that you have been registered in an official match. This is a "just in case" thing in case you are stopped while driving with firearms in the vehicle through the various states. For information about the various States and their laws about transporting firearms, the web site http://www.packing.org/state/ has a lot of information for each State, including links to the individual State web sites. If you are going to this, it is a good idea to plan your route and see which States you will be traveling through and check their corresponding firearm laws. I would suggest printing out these laws and keeping them with you during your trip too. ------------------

Paul,I just checked with the site http://www.packing.org and they do not show any reciprocity between New Hampshire and Maine CCW's. At the beginning of this I did get in touch with one of the Maine CCW issuing offices and they only require a CCW to carry concealed. Here is a U.S. map that shows reciprocity for a New Hampshire CCW:
Look forward to seeing you there! ------------------

Hey great thanks Greg! That is some good info. I guess when I go to Pa & NC I'm OK there.Skykid- Not being born here I don't know Francestown, but I bet it's up north of me. I'll look it up. Fun is right around the corner. While I don't trap shoot I'll bring the "500" just for fun. I've got a friend that reloads and shoots alot that may come also. Camping is okay! There is places for tents in the woods and camper parking. No fires or electricity and bug spray is a MUST. There is a porta-pottie and a cold water faucet. ME does not honor NH CC permits, so you'll have to unload and case it. Baby sitters and other acompanied guests welcome too. ~Clayt ------------------ "RLB Stock" August 5 & 6 in Southern Maine.
