honestly, a cop will hassle you about a 22 cal handgun if he's bored and wants to give you the *raspberries*but i swear you could have a huge industrial burning and cutting laser in the back of a truck, and if he asks "whats that thing", you could say it was a industrial grade movie projector, or a microwave communications support unit, or a long distance laser leveling/rangefinder used in modern long distance surveying, LMAO I read a piece somewhere a ways back, before 911, where they showed a bunch of cops various pictures of parts of nuclear stuff; something like 99.9% believed whatever the caption said it was. One of the funniest was something like "industrial pressure creation device; high levels" not that i think locals should have degrees in nuclear theory; but you gotta wonder with all the arab cab drivers running around big cities how many locals would actually KNOW what they were looking at under the tarp in the pickup? I honestly question if the patriot act actually makes us safe, or is just one more harassment for ordinary citizens. ------------------ "10M High Power, or BUST !!"

This post is cracking me up I know we have several members of LE on the boards and we probably annoy some of them. Young officers are just that, young. I got pulled over a few years ago by a very pretty, petite young Texas DPS officer. I was driving my '73 Olds Delta 88 conv. and she observed I wasn't wearing a shoulder seat belt. I waited until she was up to my door and asked "what did I do?" She says I pulled you over because your not wearing ...... and stopped mid sentence as she looked to see I had my lap belt on She then made a show of inspecting my car for violations but I could see her neck was red. That car was older than she was.You can go to any guns store and buy an 8# keg of smokeless powder with no background check. Imagine the mayhem you could cause with that!! I think I would rather ship my guns to Clayt via UPS than drive through NY and Mass. with them. You may wind up in Guantanamo Bay

LOL! My brother-in-law drove an Olds 98 in Taiwan. Cars with three passenger front seats were unheard of there. Anyhow I was driving his 98 on the freeway with my wife sitting in the middle seat, buckled up with the lap belt. We got pulled over...when we asked what was wrong, the cop said she didn't have on a seat belt. When I pointed out the lap belt, he got embarrassed because he thought he had made a fool out of himself in front of a foreigner.

I love driving my 66 Chevy truck..No belts, and never had them.. Look all ya want Copper, LMAO I have often thought of driving pops 55 Chevy for a daily driver , just to see how often I get hassled.. Good luck with that one too.. But with my luck , I would get the rubber glove treatment for a broken tail light.. You know that the 66 still gets about 18 mpg.. Dang and my 87 gets 15 , yup total sense to me.. ------------------ HEAD SHOTS DON'T LEAVE BLOOD TRAILS ! Rob [Edited 1 time by Rob.D.W on 01-25-2006 at 06:42 PM]

thats easy... there's probably three hundred pounds of electronics and smog control crap on it that wasnt on the original... its to make it more efficient, its called progress, LMAOstart adding the weight up: catalytic converter, extra piping, tons of hoses, the computer(s), the air pump aint light... then figure that stuff is to reduce emissions. better gas mileage would do wonders, too, lmao my neighbor found a car remarkably well preserved with tall grass and weeds and small trees growing up around it, it was some special half-year to find for a ford fairlane, the one that means its worth more, but no parts for all the others and sister cars fit it, lmao. he ran it for a while, then decided to re-do it from the ground up, everything, while it was still in good running shape to make his work easier. when he was done, it looks stock from all outward appearances, down to the sedate little am radio, and the original plastic bag for the wiper fluid. The engine, though, was a different story, LMAO. He goes nuts with stuff like that. Its a stroker and everything, you feel like an elephant is sitting on you when he punches it at cruising speeds, lmao. anyhoo, this ridiculously powerful "sleeper" old car, was before emissions was a thought for designers. He only runs a muffler to "be nice" as the original didnt specifically call for one from the date of manufacture rules. so this fire breathing monster-mobile, when it was all done, for some arcane reason he took it in for emissions testing. Mind you, its stroked into a much larger engine now, drawing in and consuming much more air and fuel than ever before per (4)revolutions of the motor. it passed emissions with flying colors, all the way up to the very late eighties. My 89 car i was running at the time, we compared emissions reports...made me want to cry, LMAO, mine were higher. so much for progress. ------------------ "10M High Power, or BUST !!"

I think that August 5th and 6th is a go. There is still 6 months before this takes place but I would like to know if there is anyone else who is considering the trip to Maine. It would be nice to know an actual head count and try to get some kind of group discount rates at a hotel. Speaking of the hotel, I don't know the area or if it's a busy summer vacation spot. Clayt? I'll give a call to the Dover Days Inn and get some info from them. So far MC1911 and myself are going and I already wrote it down on The Wifes calender. Anyone else?------------------

Sed,
Traveling via plane with firearms and dealing with airport security and their procedures would most likely be more problems/hassles than its worth. If Rob picks you up you won't be going near NYC. I assume that you are in western PA and I have a pretty good idea as to where Rob is. Taking a look at the map Rob would most likely be taking this route: I-81 North -> I-380 East -> I-84 East -> I-90 East -> I-290 East -> I-495 North -> I-95 North to Portsmouth ME, then local directions from Clayt. The route might vary depending on where you are, but even with a slight change in plans, the closest you will come to NYC is 50 to 60 miles. If you drive over here and catch a ride with MC1911 and myself, you'll only be about 40 miles from NYC. Tim, That's good news that she didn't go postal! The Dover Days Inn, which is the least expensive lodging that I found, does have an Internet connection in their rooms so you can stay in-touch. What we need to do is convince speedbump and Doc to go and get all 4 264 RLB's at one range! Tink, That's awesome! You plan on driving or dealing with the airport firearm headaches? OK, I called the Dover Days Inn and got some information. From what the woman on the phone (Tammy) said, they are very busy during the Summer. It would be best to make your reservation ASAP to ensure an available room during August. Reservations can be made by calling the Dover Days Inn directly at a rate of $238 [$129 for Saturday (8/5) and $109 for Sunday (8/6)]. If something comes up and you're not able to make it, reservations made via phone can be cancelled up to 24 hours before the check-in time. You can also make reservations online at a slightly reduced rate of $202.30. However, this rate requires prepayment of room and tax and no cancelations or changes allowed. Also, if reservations are made via the Internet, you need to reserve more than 9 rooms to get a group rate. Tammy said that she could offer a group rate of 10% off, for as few as 4 rooms while making reservations with her on the phone. The rates are for a single room (2 double beds) for 1 or 2 people per room. Complimentary Continental Breakfast is included. The facility also has a wireless Internet connection for those that just have to be connected, like myself. Also, from the looks of it on the map, I'd estimate Clayt's club to be under a 30 minute drive from the hotel. ------------------

if you dont sleep on top of the covers in the nude, splitting a room is an option too, i suppose. A post or two up there, they said they have two beds per room. Man, for over a hundred bucks a nite, there should be a jacuzzi. Where's this place at? Must be a big resort area to command such rates and limited availability.if youre ride has a CB, i'm pretty good at working a radio and getting bear reports out of the truckers, in between spotting exits and such navigating. ------------------ "10M High Power, or BUST !!"

Double occupancy rooms (two full or double beds) are available.
This place is located in southern Maine and a 20 minute ride to the beach. It's a busy summer vacation spot from what I hear. If you do a hotels.com or travelocity.com search you'll see that this is one of the least expensive places around. There are a bunch of B&B's nearby that start at $200 plus per night. It actually looks like a pretty nice place for the price. Oh, and Sed, there is a Jacuzzi along side the indoor pool. Here's the link to the Dover Days Inn Sed, the CB? You're going to lower your frequency and play in the 11 meter band? I might just have to setup the Cobra 148 GTL and slap a magnet mount on the rental car. ------------------

Greg, I will drive up and from there I will head west to Buffalo to visit my hometown and family. My wife uses American Express for her business purchases which add up big time and give us free lodging. It's a points system like air miles. We always find a Holiday Inn Express when we travel because they are newer than Holiday Inn's and always have internet connections. I'm going to build two boxes with good padlocks to house my guns and ammo. I figure any cop I encounter will have a hard time finding an excuse to accuse me of some local ordinance barring terrorism If we get an official looking flyer, it would be easier to explain if stopped, but I don't think that will be a show stopper in any case. Most Holiday Inn Express motels have two bed options. I wouldn't mind a room mate if they like Sed says, were somewhat normal. I have been accused of snoring which I deny. It's only two days so, it depends on how tolerent you are. I have a healthy appetite so I hope we can plan on a few feasts I haven't really met anything I've seen someone else eat that I wouldn't eat. I've caught and eaten rattle snake and I've eaten fried grass hoppers. I love good hot sauce and am a very decent cook myself. This is going to be quite fun and I'm really looking forward to it. The RLB members that don't make this one will probably hear enough funny stories to want to make the next one. Tinkerin

Rob... if we get a bed and breakfast, and split the room to save cash, everyone will pretty much assume we are g@y. Man I hate the beach. Plus, I dont look like much in my speedos anymore. My body aint the same body i had in my college days (sigh). Pretty much, the old muscles have been recently replaced with fat, and hair, lmao.are hairy dudes still cool? hair USED to be cool, but i think its out. Greg: I dunno if we should bring our CB's. They are both capable of transmitting off frequency, and gaelscot will have no choice but to call the FCC field office, hee hee. I dunno about a mag mount on Rob's wifes car... likely, it aint a 850 dollar special like mine, plus i heard shes the tougher of the two of them. I might have to content myself with the handheld and its rubber duck (shudder). its full power (4W) though. Should be useful for talking to a trucker, about, oh, say...100 feet from our car for status reports on the bear sitimigation as "we roll". I dont think either of them smoke either, so I'll be rubbing the entire trip, depending on the car rules. ------------------ "10M High Power, or BUST !!"

Tink, I have quite the healthy appetite, as MC1911 can attest to! A few feasts are certainly in order! While I'm familiar with being in the kitchen, sometimes more than I'd like to be, I pride myself more on the grill. However, I don't know about any cooking amenities that would be available to us.I think this is going to be a really good time had by all. It will be like a weekend out with the boys, which by the way I shouldn't say to the wife anymore as she gives me THAT look every time I say it. I'm sure there will be plenty of tall tales and funny moments. Think about it, Rob and Sedstar in the same place together. Do I need to say more? I'll have to capture some of those moments on video and stream it from the site! Sed, I don't think that anyone would be worried about your sexual orientation just because you split a room with Rob. As for the speedos, that is not proper shooting or dining attire. LOL Transmitting off frequency huh, well tracking a mobile unit is a bit more difficult than a base unit, but we could come up with a specific frequency rotation and between the upper and lower sideband and the unlocked clarifier, we could be sliding back and forth over the 11M and 10M band which would keep the FCC pretty busy. I'm renting either a SUV or Mini-Van for the trip. I guess it depends on how much "stuff" I plan on taking with me. Either way, the magnet mount antenna on the roof of either shouldn't be problem. ------------------

Well Sed, I will do the room thing, But I don't spoon or cuddle well.. And you have to by me dinner first.. Since my brother became a Turd Burglar I don't ponder on it too much.. I am all for saving the bux though.. I have no problem with my Thermo-Rest and my mummy North Face , to save 150 bux a night.. AS for the hair.. Well problem is I liked it where it used to be, but it grew back where I didn't need it, nor did I want it.. Speedos also known as cheek chillers, I ain't ever had a pair on before.. Now I know I wouldn't wear one, besides the sock shows to bad with them on...LMAO Greg, Are you gonna do another Reload Wear sale?.. To be official we should have the same shrts on... Rob,It's been a while since I placed the minimum order for the sport shirts and caps but there are still 12 pending orders for tee shirts, not including my order. The tee shirt orders were pretty much like a pre-order thing where once the minimum amount was reached, I'd contact everyone and then ask for payment. The Reload Bench Store is still online, if you want to even call it a store, but there needs to be a minimum of 36 tee shirts ordered. If the members who placed the original 12 orders still want their tee's and I include my order of 6 (wife, kids, and mine) that brings us halfway there to 18 orders. I'd have to contact the vendor and confirm if those prices are valid, but I doubt the costs went up much, if any. It would be nice to have a supply of shirts that I could sell and ship out right away, but I can't afford to layout the money for the initial stock, especially if I need to keep several different sizes and colors. I'd like to place another order for shirts. I'm sorry I only got 2 sport shirts and caps in the first order. Maybe this will spark enough attention to get some pre-orders together. Regarding you and Sed, I couldn't picture it any other way than to see you two with the sleeves cutout... quote: Originally posted by MC1911: Multiple large piles of food are just a snack.

Hmmm, the same town as where the hotel is. I might have to contact Mike and stop in to check out this whole EDM process first hand. Should be interesting to see.------------------
