I picked up the shirts and I'm now sorting the orders out and packing them up. Mike, I was going to call you about shipping the shirts to TX. I figured that you'd be on the road when they arrived home so I'll bring them with me. RLB Tee (front) RLB Tee (back) Tink, We spent a couple of nights in one of those turn-of-the-century Bed & Breakfast/Hotels in Durango. The train station was right behind the hotel although we didn't have the time to take a ride. We did manage to catch a jeep tour to one of the mountain peaks (possibly La Plata mountain?). What a difference in the air and temperature once you get up there. It was something like 11,500 feet elevation. This was in September and there was some snow up there from the previous winter! Clayt, Thanks for the directions. We'll glue up a bunch of clay targets during the week. For those that like to use gadgets, the gun clubs GPS coordinates (depending on your GPS setup) are: N43.17283° W070.80976° or N43°10.370' W070°43.586' Rob, What nights are you and Sed staying at the hotel, Saturday and Sunday nights? Also, try to stay out of the clink while you and Sed are out and about and unsupervised! Oh, and you know that us northerners will be making fun of your southren drawl. ------------------

Rob,I have your shirts packed and ready to be shipped out. Sorry, but the sleeves are in tact. You'll have to remove them yourself. I plan on getting to the Post Office tomorrow morning to send all the shirts out via Priority Mail. According to the USPS web site, it takes 2 days to deliver to your zip code. This means that you will probably get them by Wednesday, August 2nd. That doesn't leave much leeway if you plan on heading out to Sed's on Thursday. Would you rather that I take them with me instead? Call me in the morning. I'll also email you on this. Thanks... ------------------

Clayt,I have a small cannon, 19 1/2" tube with a 1" bore. Can I shoot this piece at the range? My thoughts are to start the "RLB Stock" 2006, East Coast off and end it with a bang.

Greg, Sounds like you stayed at the "Strater" Hotel in Durango. It's an interesting place with quite a history. It probably wouldn't have been La Plata Peak because La Plata is over 14,300 feet high. There are a couple hundred places near Durango where you can get up over 11,500 feet and several where you can get up to 13,000 plus feet. Out here, we call 11,500 feet a "pass." In fact, "Red Mountain Pass" just north of Durango is 11,018 feet. You haven't lived until you've been in an August snow storm above 12,000 feet while the people down below you at 7K to 8K feet are sweltering in summer heat. True story -- my son caught the biggest rainbow trout of his life [I had it mounted for him] in a raging blizzard while my wife, who was only an hour and a half away at home, spent the day lounging by the neighborhood swimming pool. One of Jeff Foxworthy's bits is you know you're from Colorado if you've skiied in June. I have skiied in June. I wish you guys a great time at the shoot. I'm leaving now for the airport for the ABA meeting at the other end of the country and I know I won't have nearly as much fun as you will.

Mike,I believe it was the Strater Hotel as that name sounds very familiar. It was 1992 when we were there last so exact details are a bit foggy. As far as the jeep tour to the mountain peak, for some reason La Plata Peak seems to be stuck in my mind. Perhaps it was La Plata and I was wrong on remembering the exact elevation. Either way, at the time we took that trip, we lived at about 25 feet above sea level. (now I'm at a whopping 850 feet. ) It took several days just to get used to the air at around 7000 feet. By the fourth day of the trip we rolled into Durango. Just when I thought I got used to the air, we took the jeep tour to the top of the mountain and spent several hours up at the peak. Aside from still seeing snow, the view was absolutely breathtaking, as was the thinner air. I'll have to look for those photos and scan a few to post. All in all we covered a lot of ground in a very short time. When we get out that way again, I think we'll concentrate more in the Durango area and spend some time in the Monument Valley area too. In the meantime, I'll still refer to the 1000 to 1200 elevations here as mountains. While they pale in comparison to the peaks you have out west, they seem plenty big during hunting season when I'm hiking in or dragging a deer out. ------------------

The cannon huh. I'll finally get to see this in action then. I've only heard about it over the years. I'll have to give MC a call later this morning to find out when he'll be headed up this way. He might already be on the road as I type this. His next post might be from made from here. Now that I'm on vacation, I have one more BBQ to host today, then it's time to lock the door and dive head first into reloading.I have a lot of catching up to do and need to load for several calibers. I'm still not sure on which firearms I'll be taking with me and still have to mount the new Leupold on the 264 RLB™ and sight it in. I updated the laptop (that I got for the Pressure Trace Device) with software for an external card reader which would allow me to transfer pictures from the digital camera to the laptop. The USB connection between the camera and laptop is just way too slow. Then again, the laptop itself is old and slow too. However, I'll be able to upload some of the first RLB STOCK 2006 pictures from the hotel's high-speed Internet connection. OK, time for me to start writing a list of things to do before leaving and a list of things to be packed up for the trip. Only 6 days to go ! Keep your fingers crossed! So far the ten day forecast calls for a mostly sunny weekend in the low 80's. ------------------

oh, jesus H christ on a stick.SOmeone had to mention cannons, LMAO. Thats great, RobDW will hook up his artillery to the back of the rental SUV on a trailer hitch... (groan) I can just PICTURE how well THAT will go over driving around the capitol of my state with a HOWITZER mounted on a trailer hitch, LMAO.Rob... we're going to be most likely using my old lady's "cool parking permit" that lets us park inside the capitol's own parking garage, LMAO. I hardly think a howitzer would go over THAT well, a couple buildings away from the capitol where the senators and congressman work, LMAO. But... just use youre best judgement on it. Rob... might i suggest the "little toy desk cannon" you told me about??? LMAO... PS - my old lady just told me that this week was "pride week" in our fair capitol of pennsylvania (groan) guess which minority group was having "pride week"? You guessed it, it was fairy week. LMAO. She said there were parades, and marches, and all MANNER of prancing and foolishness, and big parties at all the bars with "rainbow stickers" on the signs, hee hee. Sorry we missed that one, maybe we can make it NEXT time, LMAO She said it was transvestites every where you looked, and drunken middle aged men walking around in thongs. Not thongs like flip flops, thongs like BUTT FLOSS, LMAO. she said the cops were out in "full force" all week. I can just PICTURE if we tried to drive thru a "gay pride week" parade/march towing a howitzer on the back of the SUV, hee hee. I guess MAYbe we could have disguised it as a huge d!ld0 and said it was a "float" for the pride parade, LMAO. ------------------ "10M High Power, or BUST !!" OFFICIAL DIRECTIONS FROM I-95 NORTH I-95 North, from New Hampshire (keep in mind there is only 16 miles of NH on Rt. 95)Over the Piscataqua Bridge into Maine: look to the right while on the bridge, you can see the Ocean! Take Exit 3, toward South Berwick (.3 miles into Maine) Stay to your right, twice while on the "off" ramp. Follow signs to Route 236 North. Follow Route 236 North for 7 miles total (I just measured it!). There is a Dunkin' Doughnuts 2.1 miles on the left. You'll go straight through 4 sets of lights. The Club is on the right, just past the "Woodland Hills" development. The "South Berwick Rod and Gun Club", as seen from RT236, is a white building that sits up on the hill. You can call the Club phone, if you need to at (spelled to discorage the internet bots) two zero seven - seven four eight- zero zero one four The official address of the club is 349 Harold Dow Highway (H. Dow highway = Rt 236) South Berwick, Maine www.sbrga.org ~Clayt [Edited 1 time by Clayt on 07-31-2006 at 10:24 PM]

Paul,I guess you received the shirts already. I assume that anyone who didn't get them Monday will get them today then. I'm very happy with the way they came out. The "Official Registration Card" had to be redesigned slightly from the example I put online. I had to make it a bit smaller to fit into the small lamination machine and utilize the 3˝" x 5˝" lamination sleeves. The rest was easy as I just entered all the personal information into a database and the program added it to the card. So far the weather looks good for the weekend. Much better than it's going to be today and tomorrow. I think I'll stay in the air conditioning while the temps near 100° today. I finally got around to doing some brass prep and (as luck would have it) after checking inventory of my components I found out that I only had around 50 of my 30-06 bullets on hand. Luckily, the local store had another 100 count box. I would have really hated to pay $45 for overnight shipping from Midway for a $15 box of bullets. Even with the best laid out preparation, you know that there will be something to do at the last minute! Clayt, Unless you created another email address for this event, you left out the "2006" in the alias. The email's I received from you were from "rlbstock2006" (at) comcast (dot) net. ------------------

Hot here too!! Got up at 2:30a and started loading at 3. loaded till 9:30 and went to the range. Had the new BP pistol and @ 15yds put 9 into a 2" hole. The other 3 went to 50 yds and put on paper. the smoke and fire was awsome. I"ll bring it cause it's great. I ain't happy with the 357 loads but they are comming. Maybe some one else will shoot my 66 and will get different results. I'm gonna bring my old 30-30 with some 170 loads, just to bring it to the the "STOCK". If'in I can see the 100yd steel it may hit it!!------------------ PAUL -------------------------"THE UNSATISFIED LED BY THE UNQUALIFIED TO DO THE UNNESSARY FOR THE UNGRATEFUL"
