Doc, have you looked into or considered flying up? With what it would cost for gas from GA to ME, flying might be about the same cost. ------------------

"Can't quite" doesn't sound definitive and maybe there is a way if you work on it a bit more. I'm sure that some one with as many talents as you can figure out a way of overcoming the current obstacles. With a little effort you can overcomebe any obstacle. You are only bound by what you let bind you. Looking forward to seeing you in Maine. ------------------ SAFE SHOOTING and HAVE A GREAT DAY!!! MC

I thought I had some extra dough left after buying my pickup. I wanted to buy an aluminum camper shell, which was not very expensive. My wife thought it was ugly and insisted on a matching fiberglass shell. Now it will be a while before I have any disposable income. I don't even have any shooting money. I will be lucky to have enough money left for hunting season after our family vacation later this week.

Do what our government does.........Can you say "CHARGE IT!" I searched on Travelocity for flights, it seems cheapest to fly Atlanta to Boston. Round trip starts ~ $275, plus car rental (I could pick you up), plus motel, looks like a ~$750 weekend! That might cause eh Doc?! ~Clayt ------------------ "RLB Stock" August 5 & 6 in Southern Maine. All RLB members welcome! e-mail questions to: RLBStock2006(at)comcast.net [Edited 2 times. She IS right! I had a alminum cap that got destroyed from the hail storm last week. I'm going to replace it with a fiberglass one. (if I can!) ~Clayt

I'm sorry to hear that Doc Henley can't make it. Even though I can't go, I was looking forward to stories of a meeting between Doc and Sedstar as much as anything else. Take this in the friendly vein in which it is intended please but I had visions of Clark Gable [the southern gentleman from "Gone With the Wind"] a/k/a Doc Henley, meeting Kurt Russell [Snake Plisskin in "Escape from New York"] a/k/a Sedstar. I have a vision of them staring at each other trying to get a grasp of what planet the other came from. This is the great thing about shooting; it brings the most disparate characters together.

Hi Greg, unfortunately, I will be unable to attend. I have taken to working again with my wife. I'll have to modify my profile to semi-retired lol. Hope the weather cooperates for ya'll and you get some serious competition started. Maybe some of the games you play can be done long distance using "gentlemen's rules" and we can move the RLB fest around some.Have a great weekend guys and take plenty of pictures. Tinkerin

Tink,Sorry you can't make it. I'd like one day to have an RLB Fest in the southwest. I was there 14 years ago with my wife and we both enjoyed it immensely. We landed in Phoenix and stayed several days in Flagstaff. Took a trip to the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas (where we left a "donation" at the Casinos), then headed over to Durango, CO. and headed through Sante Fe and Albuquerque NW. Then back to Phoenix via Flagstaff once more and flew back home to sea level. (By the time we were halfway through with our trip we finally got used to the air at the higher elevations.) In the 10 days we were there, we covered a lot of ground and saw some beautiful countryside. Perhaps in a year or two when the girls are a little older (and I put some money aside) we might take another trip out that way. As for the upcoming RLB Fest, I also hope the weather cooperates. I'm looking forward to getting up there and meeting everyone. They'll be plenty of pictures and video (hopefully I'll be able to stream it from the server) for those that couldn't make it. ------------------

Mike, I agree but had visions of a trio. You have identified Doc as Rhett Butler, Sed as Snake Plisskin, but neglected Rob, the most significant member of the trio who would be identified with the Beverly Hillbillies. The picture is now complete. ------------------ SAFE SHOOTING and HAVE A GREAT DAY!!! MC

Greg, I will look forward to the pic's and know you guy's will have a large time. Your vacation resembled our vacation last year and we can't wait to go back. Beautiful country out there. Don't overlook the Utah canyons, they are breathtaking.I've had visuals as well. I see MC1911 as slim picken's for some reason and I mean absolutely no offense by that. Just an old savy gun hand like in the John Wayne movie with his hammers wired back Rob seems like a Rambo living off the land guy and Sed is Kevin Spacey in K-Pax LMOA. Clayt is Captain Ahab shooting fish You guys have a ball. Tink

Tink, Sorry that you will not be able to make it to Maine. I was looking forward to meeting you. As Greg mentioned he would like to have a RLB Fest in the southwest and I for one would go along with that. My wife has family who live in Harlingen, TX, and I have been planning to get down that way; someday. I am sure there will be plenty of stories coming out of Maine with photos and video to back it up.

Tink,I do hope to get out that way again. When we drove from Flagstaff AZ to Durango CO, we drove through the Painted Desert and just along the outskirts of Monument Valley. I wanted to head up into Utah, but time didn't allow it. We were already on a pretty tight schedule. I did get some fantastic photos of the Painted Desert with my 35mm camera (pre digital camera age) while driving about 85MPH holding the camera above the convertible's windshield and using the autodrive on the camera. I ate up three rolls of film this way, which was also changed while driving. Funny thing about the entire trip, I did 99.99% of the driving. My wife pulled the car around to the front of the hotel one time as we were leaving Flagstaff. She drove about 500 yards, I did the other 2300 miles, yet according to her we both drove. Sed, Now you ask about how far the hotel is from the range with only 8 days left ? .gif)

As much as I hate it, you're gonna have to draw a line thru my name. Early on, I thought everything would be easy but it hasn't worked out that way. So many "gotta do's" have rose up to bite me in the butt that I can't get to the "wonna do's". And I thought when you retired you only did what you wanted to. Maybe next year. Sorry.

Hello All, I'm looking forward to the RLB STOCK Aug.5&6 and meeting everyone. I have a few questions not having shot competitively. How much ammo will I need to shoot in the following? 1. 100 & 200 bench 2. 50 & 100 off hand 3. 50 & 100 rim-fire 4.100 & 200 cast at steel 5. Pistol Timed and untimed. Is this Action Pistol, rimfire or something else? I'll be shooting an Interarms Mark X .308 for the bench, offhand & cast@steel 100 & 200. A Marlin 883SS in 22 Win Mag in rim-fire. Not sure on pistols til I hear back from you. Oh checked out the RLB site LOOKS GREAT. I look forward to getting involved as soon as I'm on line from home (At Paul's now). Shoot straight, Frank (aka) Redneck I-R-1

Bee, Sorry to hear you can't make it. Maybe the next one. I guess I'll have to brush up on my 30-30 shooting and work up some loads for it to compete with Clayt. I know he was looking forward to going head to head with you on that.Frank, Welcome to the board! It seems as though there will be about a dozen of us or so meeting in Maine. I think we can work with and/or change the listed events to accommodate us as needed. As for the ammo, I'm probably going to bring several hundred rounds for each firearm I bring. I'm not even sure which firearms I'm taking yet except for my 264 RLB. All I know is that I start my vacation in 1˝ hours and I'll finally have time to reload and do some much needed load development on several rifles next week. Clayt, It was mentioned earlier on (somewhere in this long thread) about shooting clays on the rifle range. You mentioned that it was OK as long as they were all cleaned up afterwards. Is there a garden rake available at the club or can you bring one with you so the broken clays could be cleaned up? MC1911 should be here either Sunday or Monday and is bringing a box of clays. I have a bunch of cardboard already cutup for target frames that we'll be gluing the clays to. Probably 6 or 8 clays per target for what sounds like a pretty fun event. Also, what about driving directions from I-95? I sent out the Registration Cards this afternoon to SkyKid, 4thebrdz, Redneck I-R-1, Rob.D.W, and sedstar. MC1911, I have yours here. I just got a phone call from the shirt vendor (their ears must have been ringing) and the shirts are ready to be picked up. If I can get there by 5:00 PM today, I'll try to get them packed and shipped out tomorrow morning. ------------------

MC1911, thanks. I was hoping I could make it. My wife is in LA on business until mid August and I'm holding down the fort I have a BIL living near Edinburg Texas. Houston has cool weather in comparison this time of year LOL. Greg, you took a great route on your last vacation out west. I've been that way as well but I letmy wife do most of the driving. I took over in the mountains LOL. I love that part of the U.S. We live at 16' above sea level here so camping in Durango was quite a thrill. The moon seems enormous up there. The little narrow gauge train ride up to Silverton was a blast. Take care guys, Tink

Beeman, Sorry to hear you won't be able to make it! Next year buddy!! Greg, From I-95 North. Over the High Level Bridge into Maine. Take exit 3, keep right (RT 236 North, toward Eliot, South Berwick) Stay on Rt 236 for about 7 miles (about = guess) you'll go staight though 4 sets of traffic lights. The South Berwick Rod and Gun Club is on the right, just after the "Woodland Hills" development. We do have rakes and shovels at the range, bring on the clays!! I have "0" 30-30s loaded right now! ~Clayt ------------------ "RLB Stock" August 5 & 6 in Southern Maine. All RLB members welcome! e-mail RLBStock2006(at)comcast.net [Edited 2 times.
